Bernhard Tonninger

Bernhard Tonninger is a named partner and attorney at the prestigious TS&P law firm in Vienna. He specialises in civil law and civil litigation, with a particular focus on intellectual porperty law (trademark and copyright protection), unfair competition law, as well as the ever-growing area of internet and IT law. Bernhard received his doctorate in the field of ´”copyright law and the internet” in 1998. After founding his own law firm in 2003, Bernhard was leading attorney in numerous head line cases including a case at the European Court of Justice and numerous cases at the Austrian Supreme Court.

Bernhard (along with his firm) was the recipient of an impressive five awards in 2017, when he was named Austria’s lawyer of the year in the areas of intellectual property, IT law and unfair competition, as well as achieving international recognition by winning the Global Law Experts’ (GLE) Annual Award.

Much like many of our other members, Bernhard has been a strong contributor to legal development, having authored a variety of academic papers and legal commentaries (in particular regarding the Austrian Trademark Law as well as the Austrian Copyright Law, Austrian Unfair Competition Law and the Austrian Law on Fixed Book Prices) and giving speeches to expert audiences on a regular basis.
