This 1984 built vessel was converted to a specialist cement carrier in 1998. On January 3, 2015, the vessel was lost while in the course of a laden voyage carrying 2,000 tonnes of cement from Aalborg in Denmark to Runcorn, England in Cheshire. The vessel’s upturned hull was found by a passing ferry in the Pentland Firth, following stormy weather off the coast of northern Scotland. An intensive air and sea search failed to find any of the crew of 8, including 7 Polish nationals and one Filipino. The search for survivors has since been abandoned and the UK’s Marine Accident Investigation Branch has commenced an investigation. No distress call was transmitted from the ship prior to its loss.
