Nigel Taylor is a highly regarded international claimant lawyer with more than 40 years’ experience in complex high value disputes. He has been a resident of the Isle of Man since 2007 and is admitted to practice as a solicitor in England & Wales, Hong Kong and in the State of Victoria in Australia.
Nigel has worked exclusively on international (cross border) cases throughout his career, mostly in relation to the marine, aviation and insurance industries. He commenced practice (1974) with a leading City of London firm and subsequently relocated to Hong Kong for 11 years (1980-1991), where he held senior management positions including Managing Partner.
Having started his career and progressed to a senior partner role with a leading ‘defence’ law firm, Nigel developed a niche practice in mass plaintiff cases, which would eventually lead to him retiring from partnership (1997) and choosing to work as a sole practitioner. He then concentrated his practice on claims arising from major aviation and maritime disasters, acting exclusively for the claimants, and has since litigated aviation cases all around the world and recovered over a quarter of a billion dollars for aviation accident victims.
In 2007, he was invited to become a Consultant (‘of Counsel’) to a leading class action specialist law firm headquartered in San Francisco, with whom he worked for two years so as to enable them to develop a specialist aviation practice. Nigel is Of Counsel to specialist claimant law firms in Hong Kong and California.
