The Global Justice Network Limited had its first official conference in Krakow, Poland, on May 16 & 17. Thanks to the hard work of the Governing Council, the enthusiasm of the attendees, and the tireless efforts of our gracious hosts, the conference was both productive and enjoyable.
On Friday, the Proposed Business Model was explained and approved, and we will inform you when the Isle of Man entity has been created. Every law firm present at the conference signed the request for membership in the GJNL collegial network. A vote was taken approving of our Governing Council to stay on as the new company’s Board of Directors and we welcome and thank Dr. Bernhard Tonninger for becoming the ninth member of the Governing Council / Board of Directors. We celebrated that evening with dinner at the elegant Hotel Stary.
On Saturday, we met in a conference room 150 meters below the earth in the caverns of the Wieliczka salt mine. A number of litigation projects were discussed in the morning and members responded enthusiastically. Work was followed with lunch and a tour of the mine and then another great dinner back in Krakow’s city center.
Our hosts, Simon Gostynski, Jerzy Gawel, and Sylwia Mysliwska deserve special recognition for working so hard to show us the best of their beautiful city. We were so taken with the charm of Krakow that on our last evening, watching the sun go down over the main square, we agreed to meet here again in ten years’ time to look back on our collaborations and remember how it began. Until then, we look forward to many productive conferences of the Network and we’ll see you again on October 17 & 18 in New York City.
